1-35-P-H-7.......DOUGLAS O-46A.......Extremely obscure photo of this large cumbersome 1935/1936 USAC observation plane taking off.......This O-46A was one of 90 procured for the USAC to fulfull the role of forward air observation of a battlefront.......unfortunately, the US Military specification for this type of plane was flawed.....a three ton, 725 horspower powered monoplane was hardly a maneuverable, quiet, low altitude, short field plane......design had been superceded by WWII with the 'L' birds such as the 65 hp. Piper L-4 Cub.....much more suited for this type of work..... very good condition 8" by 10" medium resolution photo appears to be an enlarged negative......undoubtably this plane here was being operated pre-WWII (looks like he is taking off on a beach)........$19

2-35-P-H-7........DOUGLAS O-46A 'OOPS'....... Here is a good reason why the USAC decided their 1935/1936 Douglas aerial observation airplanes (and the USAC's flawed logic) might not work after all! ......here we can see the 3 ton monster observation plane has flipped over, causing damage, but fortunately appears to have saved the pilot by virtue of its parasol wing.......1930's cars parked in the background must have come to the rescue......8" by 10" medium resolution photo in very good condition and appears to have been a enlarged negative........another obscure photo of a pre-WWII US Army Air Corps plane......$17
