..........1943 British War Office printed on one sided color woven paper........ full color topographical chart measures 24" by 32" dated 9/43 (September 1943)......1/500,000 scale, marked 'EUROPE (AIR)'.....joins Brest, Le Havre, Dijon, Bor Deaux....this chart is marked with a green pencil line from Orleans' (check point) then throigh the chart off to the south west.....chart from collection of WWII 8th. AF Navigator, so wonder where he was going......very good original condition.......$25

5-51-A-P-2.....BRITISH AIR MINISTRY PLOTTING CHART WWII CORK-STETTIN.......Back in the 'pre-GPS' days, dead reckoning & pilotage navigation were the standard ....this 'plotting chart' was an interesting footnote in this history .....the British War Ministry quickly learned that pilots and navigators would use far less charts if they marked their courses on these 'disposable' maps, designed to be carried WITH the actual charts, not replace them........these thin paper charts had all the navigational data needed to match them with a real chart, yet they were made to be thrown away after the mission, and as a result, do not exist in very great numbers today.......chart measures 28" by 36", printed in red ink (visible in UV or amber cockpit light), was 1/2,000,000 scale (required less charts), has compass roses and lat/lon info.....dated 9/43 (September 1943).....borders charts of Ireland, Glasgow, Trondheim, Belfast, Rome........this chart has London on it, and was the large scale (long range), so it was probably used on a LOT of missions during WWII......has some light staining and edge wear, but due to the thin paper it is considered in very good original condition......$40

8-51-A-P-2......WWII SILK AAF ESCAPE MAP CHINA .....Two sided full color 'silk' cloth escpae map with topographical, lat/lon coordinate, city, river, road rail and magnetic variation information (all the stuff you need to get home)......one side is Pei-p'ing, China, and the other side is Ryojun, Manchruria......produced by the US Army Air Forces, 1943..... 1/1,000,000 scale.......includes glossary so you can figure out how to ask about the 'river' to locals......also shows prevailing ocean currents with steadiness of direction....submarine cables also illustrated, but I haven't figured out why, maybe thats as close as the USN could get to pick up one of our men?.......original cloth chart is called 'silk' although it was a synthetic fiber by WWII ..........24" by 24" in new old stock condition.......$50


9-52-A-P-2...... WWII FASCIST ITALY ED DAMER WAR CHART ......Probably one of very few, this Italian one sided color paper chart is marked 'Comando Superiore Delle Forze Armate Dell' Impero (High Command of the Armed Forces of Empire)......topographic with legend, and translation from Arab to Italian...dated Agosto 1940.....chart of Sudan......pencil line from North to South on this chart.......I would love to know who was flying what' along this line.......looks like G. Nuri and Burg Edam were checkpoints.....roughly 24" by 30" in very good original condition two small 'chunks missing from the top and bottom of the chart (see in photo)......printed in Italian (only).....rare....$40
10-52-A-P-2......WWII BRITISH WAR OFFICE KIEL GERMANY CHART....... Dated 8/40 (August 1940) attractive one sided full color topographic cloth reinforced paper chart.....bordered by Berlin, Baltic Sea, Flensburg, and Aalborg.....curious 'train ferry' routes between Sweden - Germany and Denmark - Germany.......marked '1:500,000 Europe (Air)'.........measures 26" by 35" in excellent original condition for ..........$30
