5-50-I-N-5........B-17 REMOTE COMPASS INDICATOR.......This actually is called a 'Gyro Flux Gate Compass Master'....it had a remote gyro. located in the airplane that eliminated turning erros, and it has a provision to compensate for magnetic variation, so the crew could fly oriented to True North instead of Magnetic North,...... got it?.......this system was simply too large and complicated for smaller aircraft such as fighters and short range attack/transport aircraft, so only th B-17's, B-24's and other long range heavy planes had them........this instrument is NOT a standard size, its in fact very large, measuring some 6" across the front and 7" long, it's also quite heavy at 7 pounds..........very good condition, and may still be functional, but untested.......very impressive instrument......$75
