1-50-I-N-4.......LOCKHEED P-38 LIGHTNING MAGNETO SWITCH......Used to control engine ignition of the V-12 Allison's, this switch sat prominently in front of the pilot....sale comes with photocopy from original P-38 Pilot Training Manual showing it installed in the panel.....std. 3 and 1/8" dia. mount, with L and R engine switches, and main 'kill' switch....whats interesting about this switch in particular is that its in outstanding condition, mechanically and the switch operation etc., but the black face looks quite 'shoddy'......the paint is in fine condition, but the finish is not very smooth or even.....I had originally thought this switch had been re-finished, but the more I look at it, I don't think so, it looks original! ......apparently the quality control in the paint room for magneto switches was pretty low the day this was made .......I suspect this is an early WWII switch.....(quality control came up during the War, it seems).....$75

6-26-I-N-4.........NORTHROP FLYING WING AIRSPEED INDICATOR..........Type F-1A indicator used in numerous mid-late 1940's USAAF/USAF aircraft.....one of the last versions to still use MPH instead of "knots"...the Northrop YB-49 Flying Wing, some P-51's and F-51's, F-82 Twin Mustangs, B-29's and B-50's all used this indicator....unique design spins large hand around 360 degrees for each 100 MPH, which is recorded in the center...indicates up to 799 MPH!!.....indicator works, but I don't think its accurate any more.....standrd 3 and 1/8 diameter gauge, with pitot and static connections and data plate on back....looks good...........$85 |
