-47-B-O-9.........WAR DEPT. TECH. MANUAL, NOTES ON PSYCHOLOGY AND PERSONALITY STUDIES IN AVIATION MEDICINE........January 27, 1941.......Another one of the many Technical Manual Series put out by the Government during WWII for all the Services, this one is actually a fun read........(Maybe NASA should buy this book?).......bad jokes aside, the book explains the basis for determining intelligence, and how it applies to a person's ability to succeed......basically as the manual relates, the fact that a person is adept at flying an airplane, or fixing an airplane, he or she isn't any better than the rest of us.........(another tidbit of information that some egotistic pilots don't seem to know) .....this manual is 335 pages, softcover, standard size 6" by 9", former library book in used condition, but still with tight binding......SOLD
-48-B-O-9.............INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM PILOT'S GUIDE........Dated May 1969, this spiral bound soft cover Operator's Handbook for LTR-51 is by Litton Commercial Avionics of Calif.......explanation of system, specific instructions for operation, schematics and drawings of the system..........for those of you who last flew IFR with 'the beam' , this system is modern, still used navigation equipment that uses inertia and timing (all internal) to determine when, how much, and where, the airplane moves.......known within the circles as 'stupid in = stupid out', you had to program these units before each flight (pre-GPS times) and if you did it right, the unit was extremely accurate for long distance flights, and did not rely on radio signals, so it was perfect for over-water flights.......unfortunately if programmed wrong, the system would tell the flight crew to go the wrong way!........interesting information, 42 pages, in very good condition with handwritten owners name........who knows, this manual probably flew around the world in some airliner from days gone by.....only $5
-4-B-O-9......... NORTHROP GRUMMAN 'HAWKEYE' E-2T PILOT TRAINING COURSE .......Dated 1994, and consists of 2 large manuals, one Instructor Guide, and one Student Guide ........each manual about 300 pages, measures 9" by 11" and divided into chapters for each segment of the training ......numerous color and b&w exploded views, drawings, schematics, etc.........typed on front cover is 'Republic of China Air Force Training'.......ROCAF (Taiwan) recived contract of 4 aircraft in 1993 and went operational in 1995, these manuals are from this........excellent condition originals......set of 2 weighs over 8 pounds!..........$85

-47-B-O-9........ WAR DEPARTMENT TECHNICAL MANUAL, THEORY OF FLIGHT..........Dated Feb. 24, 1941.........Another in the large US Gov't WWII era series of softcover approx. 5.5" by 8.5" books, this one covers a number of aircraft engineer type information such as parasite drag, aspect ratios, airfoil formulas, etc.....182 pages of various chapters which help illustrate where some of the 'then' current airplane designs originated..... book appears in excellent (possibly unused) original condition with original owner's name written on first page.......SOLD
-2-B-O-9..........GLACIER PILOT, BETH DAY 1957 .......First edition hardbound biography of Bob Reeve, Alaska's first glacier pilot.......Reeve made a career from 1932 through at least the 1950's as a bush pilot, flying his Fairchild 71 anywhere and everywhere---mud flats, high atop mountains, remote mining sites, etc......Reeve later got a Boeing trimotor biplane and a DC-3 for his ever expanding operations ....fascinating history of a true pioneer, many entertaining stories .......hardbound with dustjacket and plastic cover, ex library book, used, lightly soiled, but overall fair/good condition......348 pages, 5.5" by 8.5" with many photos.....$20
-47-B-O-9....... THE SPORTSMAN PILOT, 1939 .......Here it is, the entire year of 1939, all 12 back-to-back issues of the year.....its no secret this is my favorite aviation magazine of the 1930's, they simply had the most unique photos that hadn't been published in other magazines, and they used a high quality paper and hi-resolution photos, all printed on 'larger-than-life' 10" by 13" pages........picture a full page advertisement for the new Luscombe Model 50 (in flight), close-up photo of Kollsman's recently announced direction indicator, Waco full page ad with Standard Cabin in flight, monthly full two page photo feature of pilots in aviation, and, The Fifth Annual Album of American Private Aircraft, a 27 page full feature article with LOTS of close-up photos, and details of 1939's year in small civil planes.....know what a Stinson SR-10K is? how about a Rearwin Speedster 6000M? .......these magazines are hard to find complete for any year ......all 12 magazines are in used, good to very good condition, complete and undamaged.......complete 1939 for.........SOLD
