2-1-B-O-6......THE BIRD BOYS, AEROPLANE CHUMS IN THE TROPICS, 1912.............John Langworthy was one of the first authors to include 'aeroplanes' in adventure stories for young men.....colorful writing makes this a quick read...."once away from the mountainous country and they were able to descend to still lower levels, the air changed from chilly to hot, and there were signs of life among the trees below".......236 pages, harcover,.. first edition,..... five by seven inches...penned inside cover as a Christmas present in 1913.....very good condition.....$27 |

3-1-B-O-6...........PILOTS NOTES DEHAVILLAND MOSQUITO MARKS FII AND NFXII.........Original 1944 abbreviated flight manual for the "Mossie"..... the Brit's realized that pilots could not carry a full size flight manual on a flight mission, so they came up with a condensed manual that includes just the 'important stuff such as essential controls, guns, cockpit equipment, handling, flight limitations, checklist, and emergencies.....most competent pilots could use this maual as a sole reference for flight, although the Air Ministry recommended pilots have a copy of the full size manual for any in depth questions..... excellent photos of all cockpit controls with numbered identification of everything.....power setting charts, schematic of emergency equipment, emergency checklists (Vmc was 170 mph!!)...the MK FII and NFXII were the night fighter versions with pilot and RO sitting side by side with extended engine nacelles, AI MK IV or V radar or "Turbinlight" searchlight....armament was four 20mm cannons plus four .303 Brownings....who knows, this manual may have been in a RAF pilot's flight bag when he shot down a ME-110!......manual 5" by 7.5", about 40 pages, with hand written notes, and slight water (or sweat) stain at edge...........quite rare and original piece of history.........$175 |

4-1-B-O-6.....NATIONAL AERONAUTIC ASSOCIATION PROCEEDINGS 1947.......Fifth National Aviation Clinic by the NAA.......this famous association's origins date back to 1905 with some of the first members including Wilbur and Orville Wright, Jimmy Doolittle, Charles Lindbergh.......this book records the "clinic" in Springfield IL of Nov. 1947.....speakers at the meet read like a "who's who" of aviation: Roscoe Turner, Bill Piper, Robert Wood (then editor of Aviation Week), etc.....many topics addressed regarding the current problems in aivation and regulation.....excellent condition, 272 pages, 6 by 9"......only....$7

TECH MANUAL - AIRCRAFT SHEET METAL WORK.......Dated Feb. 10, 1941, this manual is 147 pages, and contains information on repair of aircraft aluminum structures (probably one of the more frequently used manuals of this series during WWII, this is what mechanics would have referenced after a plane had bullet hole damage, flak holes, etc).....manual is in new old stock condition, and has two holes punched in spine for inseting into binder.....like new original WWII aircraft mechanic manual.....measures 5.5" by 8.5"........$29 |

Sportsman Pilot and Skyways combined about the end of WWII, and here is the result.....I don't think this magazine lasted too much longer either.....features include Stinson Station Wagon, flying the high Sierras, Alaska Bush flying, and another obscure conversion few of any of us have ever seen, the BT-13 conversion to 4 place!.....(Johnny Strode of San Bernadino was marketing this)......all kinds of advertisements, Luscombe Sedan, Bellanca, Californiua Flyers, Beech Bonanza, etc.....magazine is worthwhile just to look at all the ads.....geared towards the civilian pilot........magazine is 65 pages, 8.5" by 11" in very good condition with original subscription card still attached.....SOLD |

Gann writes in a style that can only originate from a high time commercial pilot that had "been there-done that".......this book about the Flying Macdonalds, four brothers and barnstormers of the 1920's......origninal printing 1946... with 310 pages... 5 by 8.5".. have a few copies...all in good to very good condition......$9
