5-17-D-M-5.......... 1947 US GOV'T. SWITLIK CHEST PACK PARACHUTE.....Parachute, chest harness assembly and carry bag.....pack is original, complete, and still packed......(note attached D-ring is WWII style USAAF chest-pack ring) ......chest harness is worn, then pack is snapped on (as used by bomber and transport crews, so that pack would not need to be worn until time to 'bail-out', then pack simply snapped on already worn harness) ..... everything in very good condition and complete.....pack itself is marked 'Switlik DSC 4N Safety Chute' and marked 1947.....carry bag is marked 'Aviators Kit Bag, US Governement'...... red tag attached to pack says 'Do Not Use after 1973' .....'Made by Switlik Parachute Co., Inc, Trenton, New Jersey...pack has CAA T.C. 151 approval also..markings clearly visible...probably standard issue for US Military and Federal Gov't agencies......pack is unique in that it is still packed (I havn't tried pulling the D-ring!)..very good condition.....goes without saying that this pack, like everything else here for sale, is for display only!!!....SOLD

8-25-D-M-5........US MILITARY 1952 THREE INCH HARNESS AND SHOULDER BELT ASSEMBLY ....Original to the F4U-5 Corsair, as well as various other US Military aircraft using a bucket (parachute) style seat... this is same as the WWII 3" belt, but dated 1952....If you look in the F4U Pilots Manual, they describe this belt.. belt is in excellent condition, probably new old stock with the manufacturers stamps on it...lap belt measures about 52" long....this belt is 50+ years old and NOT safe for use!...belt is synthetic woven material as were most US belts by 1943.....complete lap/shoulder harness......$85 |

9-20-D-M-5.........DOUGLAS B-26K COUNTER INVADER ENGINE DATA PLATE.....Interesting history of the Douglas twin engine attack bomber .....conceived and built in WWII, it replaced the Martin B-26, then was later sold off as surplus by the US Govt........but when the need arose for a heavy counter insurgency aircraft during the Vietnam 'conflict', the US Govt. contracted with a US civilian company to modify some 40 of the planes they had kept.......the B-26K was born, and had some important modifications, one of which was the more powerful R-2800-52W P&W radial of 2500 horsepower..... this original data plate is from one such engine....even more interesting, it was a license built Nash-Kelvinator Corp. engine under Air Force contract ......measures 3" by 4", mdae of brass and plated, with Nash emblem (yeah, the 'Nash that built those little cars!)........quite attractive in used, good condition......$45
