-50-D-M-4.........F-86A - E SABRE AIRSPEED ........ Attractive 3 and 1/8" dia. airspeed has 'barber pole' for max. speed (VMO) and very subtle, almost hidden machmeter in lower left hand corner of face, registering from .6 to 1.0 mach (speed of sound).........indicator in center of instrument is 'fine speed' indication, showing the pilot his speed in 2 knot increments........instrument is actually quite complicated, but the display is simple and looks good...found in the North American F-86 A through E series Sabrejet fighter.....was also used in the Boeing B-47, Lockheed P-80C and Republic F-84 Thunderjet.......with metal data plate on rear of case, dated 1952, and shows overhaul at the Midletown Air material Agency in 1960........overall excellent condition with near perfect face........$95
-45-D-M-4..........CONVAIR B-58 HUSTLER MACHMETER.........Holder of no less than 14 world records for altitude and speed, the delta winged, four jet engine powered bomber was cabable of over 1,300 mph, yet was first flown 40 years ago!!!.....(kinda makes you wonder what they're workin' on now)......in an age before 'glass panels' all instrumentation was conventional round gauges, including the machmeter........you can see it in the top center of the panel.........indicates up to Mach 2.2 with adjustable 'bug' marks a desired speed on the instrument .......ironically, Kollsman Instrument Corp. built these instruments, the same company that had made instruments for P-51 Mustangs, Boeing B-17, etc....... rear of instrument has serial and part numbers, as well as large 'cannon plug' connection...... appear dated approx. 1968 ......probably the last time these needed to be serviced before the aircraft were retired beginning around 1970 ...........std. 3 and 1/8" diameter, about 6" long and quite heavy....in very good condition........I have a couple of these incredible cold-war era instruments available .....each.........SOLD

-16-D-M-4....AIRBORNE PARATROOPER STATIC LINE SNAP....Used by Airborne Assult Paratroopers when they "hooked up" to the static line ripcord before they jumped out doorway of C-47...used from WW11 to Nam, these heavy steel static line snaps about 5x1 1/2" and close with a satisfying "Snap".....I have been advised by a paratrooper thats this type snap has finally been superceded after about 60 years in service.....we have many available...lay one on your desk and yell "Geronimo".....$9.

-7-D-M-4.....ABILENE (DYESS) AFB BASE GUIDE .....Soft cover book given out to NCO and Commissioned Officers arriving at the base, includes short history of base, map of area, listing of facilities on base, neighboring community stores and restaurants, phone numbers, photos, etc.........everything to make the 'new guy' feel at home ....base started out as Abilene in WWII, then briefly was turned over to the city, then went back to an AFB and was finally named Dyess in 1956.....guide not dated, but it is still named Abilene, and someone crossed that out and wrote in Dyess with a pencil......Dyess was scheduled to receive new B-47 bombers and KC-97 Tanker Squadrons ....... measures 8.5" by 11" with about 42 pages and 2 fold out maps......used good condition with some writing on front cover.....$18
-33-D-M-4.........GRUMMAN S2F-1.........Toppings Model (Akron Ohio) of early 1950's....... Bill Topping used elaborate moveable molds when building these models, and produced a detailed model made of few parts, as opposed to modern models which have hundreds of parts .....also, Topping used injection molded plastic of the correct color-----its not paint on the plastic, it is the plastic ..........the result is a very strong and durable model that could withstand a scratch or even be dropped and not be broken.........long gone, Toppings' models are quite collectable as attested to the fact that these were frequently seen on the desks of Generals, Commanding Officers, even aircraft manufacturers (like Grumman) and the Pentagon! ....this model is a Grumman S2F-1 Sub-Killer (not politically correct, as it should be!)........as marked on base of the clear plexiglass stand, along with Grumman name and logo..........measures large 21" wingspan, with clear plastic windshield, Us Military marking decals (in excellent condition), 70 million candlepower spot-light on wing, metal prop hubs, magnetic anomoly detector (MAD) detector on tail.......stand is quite heavy and allows the airplane to rotate for desired position.......marked 'Topping Models' in small raised lettering under plane.....VERY attractive plane is glossy blue (the plastic is so shiny it looks like waxed paint)....overall excellent condition...some sources indicate this had rotating propellers when new, but I can't verify.......from the Aldrich collection ... ..............(hey I can't keep everything!) ........$245

***supposedly, this same model is on display at the Navy Museum in Washington DC***
