6-36-C-M-9.......B-24 LIBERATOR ENGINE FUEL STRAINER.......Used on the mighty four engine B-24 bomber, the backbone of the USAAF Heavy Bomber fleet .....this fuel strainer was attached on the lower left side of the engine mount for each of the 4 P&W R-1830 engines ......standing almost 1 foot tall and quite heavy, made of cast aluminum, painted bright orange (gasoline-warning), each strainer has an inlet/outlet port, primer line port, and 'finger valve' at rear of strainer for checking the gas during preflight.......the strainer is safety wired closed to hold a large metal screen designed to trap contaminents.....As made by the Chas. Chapin Co. these were the type designation that were used on the B-24, and the sale comes with photocopy from original B-24 Service Manual illustrating and explaining it.....I have two of these in 'as removed' condition from a flying airplane (probably 40+ years ago)......you could either clean the strainer up, or display it as original, grime and all .......$65 each
