3-65-C-M-8..... NEW OLD STOCK DOUGLAS C-54 SKYMASTER CAPTAIN SEAT...........This is the left seat of the 4 engine transport made famous during the end of WWII, Berlin Airlift, firefighting, and about every single airline after WWII until well into the 1960's..........note the offset cutout in the seat for the control column, it was offset only one way........ unbelievably this seat is still in original 'un-restored' new old stock condition!.......olive drab leather seat cushions are an integral part of the seat, as are the armrests.....original metal seat framework, adjust lever and 3" seatbelt attach points all in new condition, 60 years new... large coil spring on rear of seat for vertical adjust........ metal data plate on rear of seat-back, marked................ THE AEROTHERM CORP., BANTAM CONNECTICUT, CAA APPROVED, 168 PILOT SEAT, MFR'S PART NUM. 21346, SERIAL NUMBER 1035 AND CONTRACT NUMBERS............seat is still comfortable and supple to sit on.....there is wear (from poor handling) to the edges of the leather in a few places (look close at photos)........no corrosion, all hardware intact, clean, and still smells good!........drawing of seat taken from original C-54 Manual........these seats are NOT the same as the next Douglas, the postwar DC-6........approx. 25" wide and 29" tall, very sturdy (and kinda heavy too!).......probably as close as most of us will ever get to sitting in the captain's chair of a WWII four engine transport......not cheap, but this is the only one of these seats we have had in this condition in our 40+ years of business...........$595
