-20-C-M-11.......DOUGLAS C-47/DC-3 CONTROL WHEEL CENTER.....Unless you worked on a C-47, you probably never paid much attention to this part, even though it was hard not to look at!......in the center of the control wheel on the Douglas DC-2/3-C-47/C-53, there is a large nut that holds the control wheel on....to hide the 'ugly' castle nut, Douglas tapped three holes in the washer that sits below it, and made these neat aluminum 'hub-centers' to fit over the washer and attach by three small screws.....many DC-3's are now missing these hub centers, using either incorrect hubs, or flying with none at all....hub is heavy wall aluminum, with 3 evenly spaced screw holes, and is the shape of a 'button', measuring 1.5" across and 1.3" tall......I have a few of these originals in new old stock condition, still with the acid wash black coating on them.......(I also have the nut that this fits over, see page 6 of this section).....buy a set while you still can get the originals!............$27 each

-20-C-M-11......LOCKHEED B-34 VENTURA ENGINE DATA PLATE.......Most of us are familiar with the Lockheed twin engine series Ventura, and the USN PV-1, but how many of us remember the B-34 ....Powered with the large P&W R-2800-31 radials this bomber had a top speed the same or faster than the 'hot' Martin B-26.........although over 600 of these planes were built, most were used for patrol duties, or navigational trainers......data plate measures 2.5" by 3.75" in very good condition with AN acceptance stamp, firing order, compression ratio, etc.....heavy metal.......engine was contract built by Ford in Dearborn Michigan, and appears unique only to the Lockheed.....$40

-11-C-M-11......DOUGLAS C-47 DAKOTA WHEEL ......Unbelievable condition ( its new old stock!) control wheel for the famous Douglas C-47 transport of WWII.....center of wheel has large cutout for keyed shaft, which is a seperate press fit piece (probably forged aluminum)....center of wheel still greased......I see some chips in the black paint on the forged center area where it was press fit installed into the wheel, but the cast aluminum wheel itself is flawless in its deep, gloss balck finish ....no markings on wheel front or back.....wheel measures 13" across......very original (not refinished) and very beautiful......$395

-20-C-M-11......POLARIOD TYPE 1065 AVIATION GOGGLE.....An improvment to the type 1021 goggle, this is Polaroid's version of Type B-8 goggle as was popular with pilots and flight crews during the second half of WWII ......rubber frame has plastic insert type lense, adjustable elastic strap (with a customized looking strap extension installed in these) and chamois lined reverse in goggles for comfort ....ventilation ports at top of goggle...goggle marked 'AVIATION GOGGLE, NO. 1065'....all the current 'historical books' sporting WWII headgear seem to omit the fact there are different versions of the B-8 Goggle, here is one such version.....about 8" across face, very good condition....$48

-20-C-M-4.......DOUGLAS C-54 SKYMASTER ENGINE DATA PLATE.......Engine data plate for the P&W R-2000-7 twin row radial that powered this 4 engine transport which literally flew around the globe transporting cargo and troops throughout WWII (and still flies in many countries)......3" by 4" aluminum data plate contains AAF number, blower ratios, compression, etc.... also has 'CAA Spec' (pre-FAA) so we know this engine survived through 1940's-1950's.....The R-2000 was a good engine, but not too many airplanes used it..... it was a slightly larger displacement but similar engine to P&W's famous R-1830.......plate in very good condition....$43
