2-16-C-C-3.......... SEYMOUR JOHNSON FIELD SASH .............Original blue and yellow woven pillow sash measures 13' by 33" ...Seymour Johnson Field was opened in April 1942 as Headquarters, Technical School, Army Air Forces Technical Training Command. In June 1943, a secondary mission was added which included preparation of officers and men for overseas duty. The 326th Fighter Group arrived in October 1943 and in January 1944 began training replacement pilots for P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft. In April of that year, basic training of P-47 pilots became the primary mission of Seymour Johnson Field. The field was closed in 1946 although later opened as an AFB.....sash meant to decorate couch or pillows......marked SEYMOUR JOHNSON FIELD NORTH CAROLINA.....in good condition.........$20

| 5-5-C-C-3.......ELLINGTON FIELD ASHTRAY ......Clear glass with blue WWII AAF insignia 'winged propeller' and words ' Ellington Field - Texas' surrounding .....Ellington was opened just prior to WWI and home to numerous Fighter Squadrons and bomber training school during WWII........ashtray measures about 4" square of clear glass and weighs about a pound......in excellent condition.......SOLD |

8-20-C-C-3.....P&W CHEVROLET R-2800 DATA PLATE ..........Ever wonder what Chevrolet was doing in WWII?......Have you wanted a bigger 'big block' in your favorite Chevy?........Here is the answer to both questions!.......in WWII Chevy was hard at work building license P&W R-2800-85 twin row, 18 cylinder radial engines!.......this 2800 cubic inch giant powered the Fairchild C-82 'Packet' twin boom cargo plane that was first designed in 1943, but continued to fly (and its derivative, the C-119) all the way up through Vietnam..........this aluminum data plate was affixed to the engine case and had various numbers, AN stamp, blower ratio (does your minivan have that?), P&W emblem, and at the bottom of the plate, it proudly states " AVIATON ENGINE PLANT, CHEVROLET MOTOR DIVISION, General Motors Corp, Tonawanda, NY, USA "........this plate obviously was on a running engine as it has wear, small cracks, and has an aluminum doubler riveted to it..........3" by 4" in used, original WWII condition...........SOLD

10-4-C-C-3......AAF PHOTO ALBUM.....Sold at base PX's worldwide, this has official AAF 'winged propeller' of WWII on front cover in gold......padded brown album folds open to display one large center photo(8.5" by 11") and four smaller photos(4" by 5").......this way your sweetheart could remember you when you were 5000 miles from home......this album was never used, it still has the included phot inserts that came with it when sold ........shows some handling wear and damage to front cover, fair condition.......$9 |
