3-54-B-M-2.........US NAVY MK 1 GAS MASK .....Tracing its history back to the US Navy Mouth Canister mask (old Mk1) of WWI which itself was a copy of the Austrian KuK mast, this mask was probably relegated to training duties by the time it was made ........date on mask indicates 1940, date on canister is 1935.......canvas mask with rubberized edging.....screw on metal canister contains charcoal (and whatever else they used) element.......mask is marked 'PT' and 'BMT-40-45'.........uses plastic material lenses ..........khaki canvas and olive drab metal ......stands about 1 foot tall ......although mostly used by ground troops, gas masks have a long history of being issued to aircrews for either in flight use, or as part of a survival kit.....I only have this one mask in fair condition......$25
