1-10-A-M-2.......MILITARY AEROPLANES, 1918 EDITION.........Grover Loening.....'Simplified, Enlarged'....Loening's second book, was officially used by both the US Army Signal Corps/Air Corps section and the Royal Air Forces as well......Loening of course formed his own aircraft company, Loeing Aero. Engineering Corp. which designed and built planes for the US Military and later merged with Curtiss-Wright.......hardbound book is quite desireable in that not only does he explain aircraft in general, he uses his degree in aernautics to explain (and illustrate) such complicated subjects as aspect ratio, tension stresses in a (wing) spar, bending compression due to drift load, etc..perhaps the most exciting part of the book is chapter 13 'Flaying and sStunting'......Loeining was a pilot himself and this chapter has actual b&w photos of aircraft, cockpits, and drawings of attack position in air to air compbat, and how do do some awerobatics such as the 'nose spin'.....202 pages, 6.5" by 10.5" in used, fair to good condition with loose binding and some wear to pages.......$45
